Kenesha L. Starling Scholarship Award for Minority and Second Career Students

Kenesha L. Starling Scholarship for Minority and Second Career Students was established in 2020 by Kenesha L. Starling, ’20, in honor of her family, close friends and mentors whose support enabled her pursuit of a second career in the practice of law. Their unwavering support, compassion, and words of encouragement empowered her to become the first African American Editor in Chief of the South Texas Law Review and graduate with highest honors. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Kenesha was selected for coveted internships and clerkships with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and prestigious Houston law firms, all while raising her teenage son and maintaining a full time career. The award will be presented to minority and second career students demonstrating academic merit.
