Honorable Michael H. Schneider, Jr., Animal Law Society Award

The Honorable Michael H. Schneider, Jr., Animal Law Society Scholarship is awarded each year to up to two deserving students who have demonstrated an interest in animal law, animal welfare, or animal rights. This scholarship was established by Judge Michael H. Schneider, Jr., a 1997 graduate of South Texas. Judge Schneider was appointed to the 315th District Court in Harris County in 2006 by Governor Rick Perry and has served as a commissioner to the Texas Supreme Court Children’s Commission since 2015. He retired from the bench in 2019 and is now a partner with Berg Plummer Johnson & Raval LLP and is also an Adjunct Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University.
