San Antonio Bar Foundation Accepting Finlayson Fellowship Applications

SAN ANTONIO — December 4, 2023 — The San Antonio Bar Foundation is pleased to announce the Dawn Bruner Finlayson Fellowship is accepting applications through January 31, 2024. Awards will be announced no later than March 2024.

The Dawn Bruner Finlayson Fellowship recognizes talented students who want to be attorneys and legal professionals in San Antonio.

Successful applicants:

· Are a first-generation college, court reporting, paralegal or law school student; and

· Demonstrate financial need; and

· Demonstrate a desire to pursue a career as an attorney or legal professional in San Antonio.

The awards will be distributed as follows:

· Three $5,000 scholarships to first-generation law students; and

· Two Youth Justice Alliance awards to graduating seniors entering undergraduate studies in the Fall of 2024; and

· Two $2,500 awards to a first-generation paralegal and a first-generation court reporter student. These scholarships will be awarded through a paralegal program and The Project Steno program.

To apply, students will need to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts. The application is exclusively online and includes one essay between 500-600 words.
