Scholarship Overview

The South Asian Bar Association of Houston (SABA Houston) is proud to offer a $10,000 scholarship to support the academic and professional growth of law students who demonstrate a commitment to excellence and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the legal field and beyond. This scholarship is open to all law students as they pursue their legal education and careers.

Eligibility Criteria

· Currently enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States.

· Demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

· Demonstrated interest in issues affecting minority and other underserved or underrepresented communities.

Application Requirements

To be considered for the SABA Scholarship, applicants must submit the following materials:

1. Completed Application Form: Please fill out all sections of the attached form.

2. Personal Statement: Submit a personal statement (500 – 750 words) answering the following question:

“What impact do you hope to make in Texas (and/or the world) through your legal career, and how does your background or experiences shape this vision?”

3. Resume or Curriculum Vitae: Include a current resume or CV that highlights your academic achievements, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service.

4. Transcript: Attach a copy of your unofficial transcript.

Submission Instructions

Please submit your completed application and all required materials via email to saziz@abtrial.law and mohamed.al-hendy@arnoldporter.com with the subject line: “SABA Scholarship Application – [Your Name]”. All documents should be submitted in PDF format. All applications must be received by Monday, February 10, 2025.

Selection Process & Notification

The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by the SABA Scholarship Committee based on the strength of the personal statement, demonstrated commitment to community service, and the desired impact of the applicant’s legal career. Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 1, 2025.
