Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation
Each year, the DHLF awards scholarships to 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls in law school, and offers bar study grants to law school graduates. The DHLF also sponsors judicial internships for 1L and 2L students with Dallas-area civil and criminal courts. We invite students at your law school to apply for these opportunities.
The applications open on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
- Scholarship & Bar Study Guidelines*
The following law students are eligible to apply for a scholarship:
(i) incoming law students who have applied to begin their first (1L) year of law school in Fall 2026
(ii) current first-year (1L) law students who will begin their second (2L) year of law school in Fall 2026
(iii) current second-year (2L) students who will begin their third and final (3L) year of law school in Fall 2026
The following students are eligible to apply for bar study grants: current third-year (3L) law students who will graduate by December 2026 and who plan to take the Texas state bar exam in 2026. Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on Sunday, March 1, 2026.- Judicial Internship Guidelines*
The Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation invites those law students who are in the process of completing their first or second-year classes to apply for the DHLF Judicial Internship Program. Judges from Dallas area civil and criminal courts will be participating. Applicants must have completed first-year law school courses from an accredited law school, including civil procedure, legal research, and legal writing courses. All students in Accredited Law Schools (including the UNT Dallas College of Law) are eligible to apply. The Foundation grants stipends to the students chosen to participate in the program. Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum of a four-week internship. Interns will receive a stipend of approximately $2,000.00 for the four weeks.
Please note that there are 2 separate applications for the Scholarship/Bar Study Grant and Judicial Internship Programs. If you are applying for both, please submit all application materials by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note that in order to apply, you will need to create an account by clicking “Create New Account”, then complete the registration form. Once you complete and submit all the required information, the system will automatically send you an email confirming your registration.

- Once the application pops up, click the “APPLY” button to the right of the description.
- You should receive a confirmation email as soon as you submit your application.
- *If you wish to apply to both applications, you may copy your answers from your previously submitted application to save time. Just select the “APPLY” button, and then in the top right corner select “Copy Previous Answers” and your answers will be pulled in on any overlapping questions.
